The electronic engineering student at the Texas University, 20-year-old Juliana Silva, was elected the 2017 Miss Angola/USA, in a ceremony held last Friday, in the auditorium of the Howard University in D.C.
The young beauty is a member of the non-profit organization Team God, which has the objective to build a medical center in Golungo Alto Municipality, northern Cuanza Norte Province.
Among the activities intended for the collection of funds, the Team God organization has held in Angola Gospel music shows, revealed Juliana Silva, who seized the occasion to encourage everyone to support the building of the intended medical center in Golungo Alto.
The beauty contest, which was organized by the Kudissanga association, hosted by the actor Sílvio Nascimento and the famous designer Teresa Ferreira (A’Frock). The Miss Angola USA 2017 was sponsored by the Angolan Embassy in the United States of America (USA), the USA/Angola Chamber of Commerce, Howard University, Eonis Media, Francisco da Cruz, Hamad Investments, Pedro Quissanga Director of Radio Program called “Muxima”, Carlos Martins, among other firms.
The event had the participation of seven contestants, Angolan students in the USA, representing the states of Texas, Massachusetts (Boston), Chicago (Illinois), New England and Maryland (Baltimore).
Juliana Silva will participate in the 2017 Miss Angola pageant. Anaisa Falgueira, 23, was elected first runner up, while Sheryl St. Michel was chosen as second runner up.
The Miss Angola/USA event was attended by the Angolan ambassador to the USA, Agostinho Tavares, who was accompanied by his wife, Prudência da Silva.
The event, which was enlivened by the Angolan musician Kyaku Kyadaff, was also attended by the Angolan ambassador to the United Nations, Ismael Martins, who was accompanied by his wife Luzia Gaspar Martins, and some diplomats of the country carrying out specific missions in Washington.
